Outward Bound United Kingdom, Eskdale

Outward Bound Eskdale is situated in the picturesque valley of the River Esk, in the remote high fells of England's western Lake District. Its proximity to some of the best rock climbing in the country near Scafell Pike, the highest in England, is an added bonus. The center itself provides everything of necessity for participants. It is set in a splendid 24-hectare garden complete with a small tarn and includes Lord Rea's Victorian gothic turreted mansion, called Gatehouse, and several outbuildings.

Eskdale became The Outward Bound Mountain School in 1950 and hence the mountaineering center of the United Kingdom. It continues this tradition with professional trainings for aspiring mountaineers as well as a variety of navigation and rock climbing courses. Eskdale also has a history of providing innovative courses for adults in the UK, and most recently has become the main center for Outward Bound Professional work.

Organizations and adult professionals looking to improve their skills in teamwork need look no farther than Outward Bound Eskdale. Their team courses are broken down into building teams, maintaining teams, rewarding teams, re-motivating teams and building individual teamwork skills. The expert staff at Eskdale also provide programs for trainees and recent graduates entering the workplace, managers and corporate events. They also host the Charity Challenge, which is a three day corporate team competition designed to raise money for the Outward Bound United Kingdom Trust as well as awareness of Outward Bound Programs.
