Outward Bound Bermuda Outward Bound Bermuda offers a wide variety of programs for youth from one to five days in duration. Since its founding it has been run by the police department of Bermuda to improve relations between police and the youth of Bermuda, although today it is mostly a civilian organization. Outward Bound Bermuda serves 20 percent of the youth of Bermuda and offers courses that include climbing and abseiling, high and low ropes courses, orienteering, sailing, kayaking and canoeing. The school also uses the tunnels and dungeons of a fort built in 1875 for caving exercises. Over the years, Outward Bound for the Youth of Bermuda has worked closely with the Social Services Department in Bermuda to run numerous courses for youth at risk. In one program, inmates from the youth correctional facility attend one-day courses and profit from the opportunity to earn the Duke of Edinburgh's Award while serving their time.
