Back to General Information Page OUTWARD BOUND INDONESIA "Outward Bound leads to people who never give up, who try and try again, and who reach for limits otherwise unknown." —Djoko Kusumowidagdo, founder of Outward Bound Indonesia Founded in 1990, Outward Bound Indonesia is the first provider of outdoor and experience-based professional development for executives in Indonesia. In addition, Outward Bound Indonesia also works with people with disabilities, nuns, seminarians, and youth at risk. Their first basecamp is in Jatiluhur, two hours drive from Jakarta on the island of Java. Only 150 meters from a reservoir's edge, students start their adventures in and around the water, traveling by canoe to activity sites across the lake. Programs also include ropes course, tracking, raft building, canoeing and trekking in the surrounding mountains. As Outward Bound Indonesia celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2000, it also celebrated its growth with the opening of a new center in Bali, which serves both internationals and Indonesians. This new center is located in Payangan, near Ubud, a beautiful valley surrounded by breath-taking nature. The programs include high ropes course, starting with a cargo net climb to crossing Ayung river 20 meters above the ground, and ending with an eight-second Flying Fox over the river and magnificent scenery.
